Homes4Ukraine Scheme

The scheme is open to Ukraine Nationals who were in Ukraine on or immediately before 1st January 2022 and have been sponsored by a host in Portsmouth.

The Roberts Centre work in partnership with Portsmouth City Council to support guests alongside their host families to settle in the Portsmouth area, access English classes, register for services for themselves and their children and seek work and move-on opportunities.

We have worked with 53 families on the Homes4Ukraine scheme between March 24 – April 25.

Case Study

Ms Shevchenko arrived in the UK in 2022, with her adult daughter and a younger child. Shortly afterwards extended members of Ms Shevchenko's family arrived. The Roberts Centre Keyworker supported the family with applying for schools for the children and English classes for the adults, looking for work and applying for the appropriate benefits and complete Biometric Residence.

Ms Shevchenko and her adult daughter have found jobs, attended English classes and settled into life in Portsmouth. In the last 6 months, Ms Shevchenko’s family have moved out of their Host’s property and found homes for each family to call home. The Keyworker has helped the family’s find suitable furniture, setting up their utility bills and listened to their concerns with the changes to the political situation in the Ukraine.

“I really appreciate the support from the Roberts Centre, especially when we first moved to Portsmouth, the paperwork is difficult and its different here”
