One in six UK adults or 8.2 million people are ‘over-indebted’ and struggle to keep on top of their borrowing. Parents were 50 per cent more likely to be in problem debt than those without children, with the figures rising for those with three or more children.
One in five families with one or two children were vulnerable to problem debt, while this increases to one in four for families with three or more children.
Living in a family experiencing debt can be very confusing and upsetting for children, so we thought it would be helpful if we could give them a book with a story they could identify with, which would help them to make sense of their experiences.
