Working together

to improve the lives of children and families

How we can help

The centre provides support for children, families, young people and vulnerable adults from across Portsmouth and the surrounding area. It provides a day nursery, tenancy and family support, and a range of advice and support services, life skills training and a holiday play scheme. We also provide the only supervised and supported child contact service in Portsmouth where children can remain in contact with parents and family members with whom they don’t live.

Child Contact Centre

The Child Contact Centre provides a safe, comfortable and secure venue for children to spend time with the parent, or other family members, who they are not living with. Volunteers are on hand to help both the parent and the children to make the most of their time together.

Tenancy & Family Support

We provide a range of support services for families, young people leaving care and for vulnerable adults. We help people to stay in their current homes, to deal with problems they are facing, to learn new skills and improve their life chances.

How to get involved

We need your help to continue our work with vulnerable children and families. There are a number of ways in which you can support the Roberts Centre and the work we do. Whatever your skills we can find just the right role for you. Some people volunteer in the Nursery, Child Contact Centre or Holiday Playscheme. Some people do admin, fundraising, painting, cooking, the list is endless. Contact us today on 02392 296919 or email hr@robertscentre.org.uk

Fundraise

There are so many ways you can fundraise for us, whether as an individual or as part of a team. You can do something on your own or team up with friends or colleagues.  We will give you as much support as we can.

People do all kinds of activities to raise money for The Roberts Centre – and every penny makes a difference.

Volunteer

Volunteers are hugely important to us. They contribute vital time and skills to help with our work, ensuring that we continue to provide services and supporting us to improve families’ lives. We simply could not achieve the things we do without the hard work and dedication of those volunteering.

“You have been brilliant. Always so polite and welcoming and are always thinking what is best for my child and she is very happy going to the centre.”

Robert Bear and his story books

We have published a series of books featuring Robert Bear. The cuddly character's stories allow children to identify with difficult family situations and make sense of their experiences.

After searching for similar products, we realised we could create something unique and helpful – you can buy Robert Bear books and toys from our online shop.
